The American Academy of Ophthalmology has named the physicians who will participate in its 2013 Leadership Development Program class, according to an AAO website.
Over the course of their year in the program, the 20 participants selected attend four education sessions that address a variety of leadership, advocacy and association governance topics.
The goals of the Leadership Development Program include the following:
- Identify ophthalmologists with the potential to become leaders in ophthalmology societies.
- Provide orientation and skill development to developing leaders in order to promote ophthalmology locally and nationally.
- Facilitate the promotion of program graduates into leadership positions both locally and nationally.
