The National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health has given $2 million to fund research on stem cell treatments for vision loss caused by diabetic retinopathy, according to a Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute news release.
Researchers at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute and the Indiana Center for Vascular Biology and Medicine led by Rajashekhar Gangaraju, PhD, are working toward the clinical trials stage for stem cell treatments that are designed to stop and possibly reverse diabetic retinopathy related vision loss.
