Only seven of the 50 hospitals named by U.S. News & World Report as "2023-24 Best Hospitals for Cancer" are located in states where the leading cause of death is cancer.
Forty-two of the 50 states report heart disease as the leading cause of death, while the remaining eight states all report cancer as the leading cause.
The states in which cancer is the most common cause of death are Alaska, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming, according to the CDC.
