St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, Ind., will soon open a new outpatient surgery center, St. Mary Medical Center Outpatient Surgery at Lake Park, according to a news release by the hospital.
The surgery center, formerly Lake Park Surgicare, will serve as a satellite facility of the hospital's main campus located three miles north. The facility features four operating rooms and two surgical procedure rooms as well as a recovery suite.
Surgical procedures performed at Lake Park include general surgery, cosmetic/plastic surgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, orthopedics and gastroenterology.
"Technological advancement has allowed a growing range of procedures to be performed safely on an outpatient basis," Janice Ryba, CEO of St. Mary Medical Center, said in the release. "The ongoing development of minimally and non-invasive procedures, as well as faster acting and more effective anesthetics, have driven outpatient surgery growth. As medical innovation continues to advance and overall patient recovery times decrease, more procedures can be performed in the outpatient setting. We anticipate this trend to continue and the Lake Park location offers an additional state-of-the-art option to meet those outpatient surgical needs."
