Georgia Radiologist Arraigned on Fraud Charges

Rajashaker Reddy, MD, owner of Reddy Solutions in Atlanta, was arraigned in U.S. District Court on charges including wire fraud, mail fraud and healthcare fraud, according to a report in The Bulletin.

According to the indictment, Dr. Reddy allegedly signed and submitted 40,000 reports prepared by non-physician radiology practice assistants without reading them over a period between May 2007 and Jan. 2008. Representatives from RSI interviewed in the report said that the matter was an administrative issue and did not affect patient care or quality.

Dr. Reddy was previously fined $85,000 in 2007, when he admitted he had radiology assistants perform medical procedures while he was practicing in Alabama.

If convicted on the new charges, Dr. Reddy could receive a punishment of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each of 16 counts, as well as face action from the Georgia medical board, according to the report.
