St. Joseph Hospital's Surgery Center in Eureka, Calif., was evacuated Monday morning after the relative of a former patient called in a bomb threat to the facility, according to a Contra Costa Times report.
The surgery center was closed for several hours after an anonymous male caller placed two separate calls to the center, warning the staff that a bomb would detonate there at 11 a.m. The caller said he was upset over a relative's surgery performed at the center previously, according to the report.
The center was evacuated of approximately 15 people following the calls. The Humboldt County Sherriff Office deputies arrived at the surgery center after 8 a.m. and called in the bomb squad to investigate a suspicious package located outside the building. The box was found to be empty.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the investigation, but no arrests have been made.
