The fiscal year 2014 omnibus appropriations bill, unveiled by House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.), would cut funding for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by $1 billion.
Delaware Eye Surgery Center completes 25k procedures.
Delaware Eye Surgery Center, based in Dover, announced the completion of its 25,000th surgical procedure. The surgery center has been open for 10 years.
Surgical Information Systems acquires AmkaiSolutions.
Surgical Information Systems, a perioperative information systems company, recently acquired AmkaiSolutions, an ASC electronic medical record and business management software company. AmkaiSolutions will benefit from SIS' product development and client support as a result of the partnership.
AmSurg honors eye centers.
AmSurg recently named six eye surgery centers as cataract innovators in patient education and honored eight ASCs for innovation in cataract scheduling.
AAAHC accredits nearly half of California ASCs.
The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care accredits 435 centers, nearly half of the freestanding ASCs in California. AAAHC is followed by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, which accredits 282 freestanding California ASCs.
Orthopedic Surgery Center of Arizona surgeons to perform surgery on Arizona Cardinal.
Douglas Freedberg, MD, and Gary Waslewski, MD, of the Orthopedic Surgery Center of Arizona, will perform surgery on the Arizona Cardinal's free safety Tyrann Mathieu. The surgery center is affiliated with AmSurg.
White-Wilson Medical Center assumes management of Emerald Cost Surgery Center.
White-Wilson Medical Center has assumed responsibility for management of day-to-day operations of Emerald Coast Surgery Center in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. The center's name will remain the same.
