Joint venture surgery center in Albany receives state approval — 5 insights

The New York Public Health and Health Planning Council awarded OrthoNY, Albany ENT & Allergy Services PC and St. Peter's Hospital preliminary approval for its $11.5 million surgery center development, Albany Business Review reports. All locations are based in Albany, N.Y.

What you should know:

1. The 22,000-square-foot center will specialize in orthopedic and ENT procedures.

2. The center will have four operating rooms and space for two more operating rooms if needed.

3. The center's physicians will perform 4,415 procedures during its first year and 4,684 procedures by its third year of operation, according to projections.

4. OrthoNY will own 52 percent of the center, Albany ENT will own 28 percent and St. Peter's will own 20 percent.

5. The project is scheduled to go before the council for approval Feb. 14.
