The new owner of Celina, Tenn.-based Cumberland River Hospital, which closed March 1, wants to buy the closed Jamestown (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center and offer outpatient services there, according to the Herald-Citizen.
Four details:
1. Johnny Presley, who owns Cumberland River Hospital and several clinics in the area, said he will seek approval to house an outpatient surgery center, outpatient emergency services and a diagnostic center in JRMC.
2. Mr. Presley said he made an offer of $1 million to buy JRMC, with a deadline of Aug. 6, but hasn't yet heard back.
3. JRMC closed on June 13. It had been experiencing a shortage of emergency supplies and liability insurance problems, and CMS stopped paying claims at the facility.
4. JRMC CEO Michael Alexander told local TV station WATE that JRMC was trying to get its Medicaid and Medicare funding reinstated. The Herald-Citizen reported that JRMC is still awaiting CMS' decision.
