Adventist HealthCare to include multispecialty ASC in new Maryland 'health destination'

Gaithersburg, Md.-based Adventist HealthCare plans to create a "health destination" at National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., according to an Oct. 6 announcement.

The 73,000-square-foot space will include an ASC offering orthopedic, ophthalmic, general surgery and other services, a statement said. Additional outpatient amenities addressing critical healthcare needs will also be included.

Along with outpatient care, the destination will have diagnostic imaging services and a cancer center, the statement said.

The facility is expected to serve as a link between Adventis HealthCare Fort Washington (Md.) Medical Center and its new primary care facility nearby, the statement said. Construction is expected to be complete in the first quarter of 2022.

"We are in a unique position to respond to the chronic healthcare challenges that affect southern Prince George's County and extend to parts of Washington, D.C.," Terry Forde, Adventist HealthCare president and CEO, said in a statement. "We must look to create more convenient healthcare experiences in the communities we serve that are lacking comprehensive care."
