13 physicians join 3-way joint venture for orthopedics-focused ASC in Missouri: 5 key notes

Medical Facilities Corp. and NueHealth partnered with St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo., to develop a new ASC.

Five things to know:

1. The new facility will be on the top floor of an existing outpatient center on St. Luke's Hospital's west campus. The multispecialty ASC will offer orthopedics, gynecology, gastroenterology, plastic surgery and general surgery.

2. In addition to the corporate partners, 13 physicians joined the project as owners and partners. The ownership group expects to add more surgeons and specialties as owners before the facility opens.

3. St. Luke's President and CEO Christine Candio said the hospital's investment in the ASC brings it closer to meeting market demands and expectations of the patient base for high quality, low cost care.

4. The ASC is slated for 2020 opening date and will include extended care rooms for patients who undergo higher acuity cases, including total joint replacement.

5. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
