The survey examined responses from nearly 200 administrators last year. Fifty-seven percent of the administrators said they didn't know the operating budget. Here is the breakdown of the operating budget for the remaining 43 percent of respondents compared to 2020:

1. Less than $1 million: 2 percent (down from 9 percent)
2. $1 million to $1.9 million: 5 percent (down from 12 percent)
3. $2 million to $2.9 million: 6 percent (down from 12 percent)
4. $3 million to $4.9 million: 9 percent (down from 11 percent)
5. $5 million to $9.9 million: 12 percent (up from 5 percent)
6. $10 million to $14.9 million: 11 percent (up from 9 percent)
7. $15 million or more: 2 percent (down from 5 percent)

Twenty-eight percent of the administrators said their operating budget increased last year over 2020 while 19 percent said their operating budgets decreased. The remaining 53 percent of respondents said their operating budgets stayed the same.
