The Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation named Michael Parks, MD, its next president at the OREF board of trustees meeting March 5 in New Orleans.
Here are four things to know.
1. Dr. Parks is New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery's vice chair for quality and the clinical director of orthopedic surgery.
2. He has been an OREF trustee member since 2013 and a donor since 1998.
3. Dr. Parks also served as co-chair of the OREF James Urbaniak, MD Mentor Campaign.
4. Dr. Parks is a past president of the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
He said, "OREF is the leading grant resource for new investigators by providing important financial support necessary to provide a foundation for their careers. I am honored to lead this organization as it continues to support research to improve function, eliminate pain and restore mobility, thereby making life better for all patients."
