The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses outlined how to make in-service meetings more engaging for nursing staff.
Three things to know:
1. Review policies. ASC leaders can talk about the policies used at the center to refresh the minds of ASC nursing staff, as well as garner feedback on how policies could be improved.
2. Ask staff what they need. Checking in with ASC nurses on what they want to learn about in the in-service can help fill knowledge gaps.
3. Engage staff. Creating a dialogue by asking open-ended questions helps engage nursing staff in the discussion.
