Both physicians and patients agree they have limited amount of direct facetime, according to a national patient survey commissioned by The Physicians Foundation.
Here are five survey findings:
1. Fourteen percent of physicians said patients and providers do not have enough time together. Eleven percent of patients agreed.
2. Ninety-five percent of patients are satisfied with their primary care provider.
3. Of consumer respondents, 89 percent are concerned healthcare's rising cost will adversely affect them in the future.
4. Eighty percent of patients said pharmaceutical companies and their pricing mechanisms are the primary reasons healthcare costs are escalating.
5. Ninety percent of patients look to physicians to use their voice as leaders to discuss issues with healthcare access, cost and quality. However, a 2016 Biennial Physician Survey found 59 percent of physicians do not believe they have the ability to significantly affect the healthcare system.
