The New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers is sponsoring a weeklong surgical mission to Honduras in October, NJBiz reported.
Here are the key details to know:
1. An operating nurse will travel to the Jalaca, Honduras-based Holy Family Surgery Center at Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos children's home as part of the mission, which is scheduled to take place Oct. 1320.
2. NJAASC hopes to perform 60 surgeries for patients free of charge during the trip.
3. NJAASC partnered with One World Surgery, a nonprofit group that provides surgical services to communities in need in Honduras, to sponsor the mission trip through a scholarship. The association is the first state ASC organization to sponsor a national scholarship.
4. One World Surgery hosts one to two mission teams of up to 60 volunteers each month.
