Tenet appoints COO, eliminates hospital operations role — 3 insights

Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. named Saumya Sutaria COO and announced the president of hospital operations position will be eliminated after Eric Evans steps down at the end of the year.

Here's what you should know:

1. Mr. Sutaria will become COO Jan. 6, 2019. He will directly oversee Tenet's hospital operations — including hospital-affiliated outpatient centers — and report to Tenet Executive Chairman and CEO Ron Rittenmeyer.

2. Mr. Sutaria previously served as a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 18 years.

3. President of Hospital Operations Eric Evans joined Tenet in 2004. Tenet is eliminating his position to create a "flatter organization," Mr. Rittenmeyer said.
