Report finds physicians, nurses in top 5 professions with the widest gender salary gaps

A new report from the American Association of University Women detailed the professions where the salary gap between men and women is the greatest, with medical professionals making the top five.

Here is where different professions within the healthcare industry ranked:

1. Physicians and surgeons came in the No. 2 spot on the list, with women making 71 percent of what men make. Male physicians and surgeons made on average $243,072, while women made $171,880.

2. Registered nurses took the No. 4 spot on the list, with male nurses making $71,590 and female nurses making $65,612, or 92 percent of what men make.

3. Medical and health services managers took the No. 9 spot on the list, with men making $87,451 and women making $67,129, or 77 percent of what men make.
