Nonprofit vision and healthcare organization Lighthouse Guild awarded Joshua Stein, MD, the 2018 Pisart Award.

1. Dr. Stein is researching trends on the use of eye care services, patient access to eye care services and a variety of other eye care outcomes-based research.
2. Lighthouse Guild President and CEO Alan Morse, PhD, said, "Dr. Stein is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to understanding vision loss, treatment of eye disease and rehabilitation of people with vision loss. He is a pioneering vision researcher, whose findings have practical implications for clinical care and decision-making on how to best allocate limited eye care resources and improve access to eye care services."
3. Dr. Stein is an associate professor at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan. He earned his medical degree from Philadelphia-based Jefferson Medical College.
4. He has extensive background in the field and received multiple awards and grants for his work.
