Sarvepalli D. Jokhai, DPM, the founder of Peach State Surgery Center, was appointed to serve on the Georgia State Board of Podiatry Examiners.

1. Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp held swearing-in ceremonies July 9 for Dr. Jokhai and eight other appointments to various government bodies.
2. Dr. Jokhai founded the Foot and Ankle Center of Middle Georgia, a podiatry clinic in Perry. He established Peach State Surgery Center, the clinic's in-house surgery center, in 2005.
3. The Georgia State Board of Podiatry Examiners is charged with regulating and overseeing the state's licensed podiatrists to protect public health and safety.
4. Dr. Jokhai served on the board for two terms under Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue, who held office from 2003 to 2011.
