US Sen. Susan Collins honored for CRC screening initiatives: 3 notes

U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) was recently honored by the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Network. She received the National Distinguished Advocacy Award, which recognizes lawmakers who demonstrate leadership in cancer-related public policy advocacy.

1. During her political career she has increased cancer research funding and removed barriers to colorectal cancer screening.

2. She was an original cosponsor of the Removing Barriers to Colorectal Cancer Screening Act.

3. She has also supported the FDA's regulation of tobacco products and was one of the first republications to sign onto the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act.
