Phoebe Putney in Georgia Hopes new Digestive Center Will Attract GI Physicians

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Ga., has begun building a $30 million Digestive Diseases Center on its campus, in hopes of attracting more gastroenterologists to the area, according to a report by Fox31 News.

Vithal Kusuma, MD, a partner at Albany Gastroenterology, said the project could relieve a local shortage of GI physicians by attracting young gastroenterologists in particular to the area.

The Digestive Diseases Center is expected to open within 14 months.
