Owings Mills, Md.-based Chesapeake Urology partnered with HIFU Prostate Services to provide non-invasive HIFU treatments for prostate cancer.
Here's what you should know:
1. HIFU uses ultrasound energy to heat and destroy tissue in the prostate. The treatment leaves areas around the prostate undamaged, which reduces possible side effects.
2. Patients can return home the same day as the procedure and return to their normal lifestyle soon thereafter.
3. Chesapeake Urology will offer the treatment at its 25 medical offices and 17 ASCs.
