Concord, Mass.-based Emerson Hospital and Acton, Mass.-based Middlesex Digestive Health are performing endoscopic ultrasounds at Emerson Hospital, making it one of the first hospitals in the region to offer the procedure.
Emerson Hospital announced the new procedure Feb. 18. Marvin Ryou, MD, advanced endoscopy physician, and Arpan Patel, MD, Middlesex Digestive gastroenterologist, perform endoscopic ultrasound procedures at the hospital.
Raj Devarajan, MD, founder of Middlesex Digestive, said: "The entire EUS team is incredibly pleased to have the capabilities and benefits this technology brings. It allows us to examine organs and other structures more clearly. EUS is a minimally invasive alternative to exploratory surgery, without the need for radiation."
