A major study, involving researchers at Mayo Clinic Arizona and Arizona State University, is examining the influence of gut microflora on patients undergoing bypass surgery, according to a report by News Medical.
The study, supported by a four-year, $1.7 million NIH grant, brings together researchers from Mayo and the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University.
Researchers will apply high-throughput sequencing techniques to assess complex microbial communities in the guts of patients who have undergone gastric bypass surgery.
