A new public-private partnership between the state of Kentucky and the Kentucky Cancer Foundation aims to provide colon cancer screenings for 4,000 uninsured state residents, according to a report from the Louisville Courier-Journal.
State Gov. Steve Beshear announced the partnership on Tuesday, including a proposed budget of $1 million for the screenings to be matched by the Kentucky Cancer Foundation, totaling $2 million over the next two years. The funds will go toward the Kentucky Colon Cancer Screening Program, which the state legislature created in 2008 but never funded.
