Half of Colorectal Cancer Cases Could be Prevented by Lifestyle Changes

Cancer Research UK found that half of colorectal cancer cases could be prevented by changes in lifestyle, according to a Telegraph report.

Researchers identified 14 cancer-causing lifestyle factors including smoking, exercising infrequently, eating too much salt, drinking too much and being overweight. Researchers said that almost 40 percent of cancers are caused by factors people can change, such as getting more exercise and quitting smoking. Red meat consumption, a risk factor for colorectal cancer, led to 2.7 percent of cancers — almost 8,500 cases.
