Gastroenterologist Taft Bhuket, MD, has been elected chief of medical staff for Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, Calif., according to a news release.
Dr. Bhuket will serve in this position for two years.
He has practiced at ACMC since 2008, when he was named chief of gastroenterology and director of the endoscopy unit. His professional interests are expansion of access to care and clinical education, systems improvements and operations. His scholarly interests are colorectal cancer screening, gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease and complications of liver disease.
Dr. Bhuket received his MD and completed an internal medicine residency at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at University of Michigan Medical School.
