Gastroenterologist William Lipshutz, MD, will receive the Outstanding Volunteer Clinical Teacher Award from the American College of Physicians, according to a news release.
He will receive the award at the Internal Medicine 2013 meeting in April in San Francisco. The award will recognize him for the "time he dedicates towards teaching medical students and residents, as well as his demonstration of 'outstanding teaching prowess,' a deep concern for patients, and his position as a role model and mentor," according to the release.
Dr. Lipshutz is the founder of Pennsylvania Hospital Gastrointestinal Associates. He was previously head of gastroenterology at Pennsylvania Hospital but now teaches as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Lipshutz received his MD from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, completed a residency in gastroenterology at Pennsylvania Hospital and a fellowship at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, according to his bio.
