Steven J. Ayres, MD, a gastroenterologist with Benefis Health System in Great Falls, Mont., recently received the designation of fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, according to Great Falls Tribune.
Here are five highlights:
1. The American Gastroenterological Association is the nation's oldest medical society dedicated to disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
2. To achieve fellowship status from the AGA, individuals must demonstrate superior professional achievement in clinical practice and/or research in the field of gastroenterology.
3. Dr. Ayres has held leadership roles in gastroenterology societies, hosted multiple community education events, served as a clinical instructor at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Aurora and published numerous clinical research papers.
4. Dr. Ayres currently serves as medical director of endoscopy at Benefis Health System.
5. Dr. Ayres earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Duluth and completed both his residency and fellowship at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
