From 2005-2008, Chicago experienced a 60 percent increase in the number of Medicare-covered virtual colonoscopies, representing the largest increase among 10 total regions studied. Nationally, the number of Medicare fee-for-service claims for virtual colonoscopies increased from 3,660-10,802 over the same study period, according to the news report.
