Carilion Clinic Gastroenterology Adds Four Specialists, Creates Fellowship Program

Just days after announcing its closure, Valley Gastroenterology of Southwest Virginia in Salem confirmed its physicians will be joining Carilion Clinic Gastroenterology in Roanoke and forming a new fellowship program, according to The Roanoke Star.

Specialists Robert Moylan, MD, Jonathan Bern, MD, Vikas Chitnavis, MD, and Kevin Mercure, MD, will treat a variety of digestive diseases in addition to serving as faculty members for the new gastroenterology fellowship program. Dr. Moylan will serve as the program's associate director.

The inclusion of former Valley Gastroenterology physicians nearly doubles Carilion's practice size and helps meet the growing demand for gastroenterology services in the Roanoke Valley.
