In honor of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, N.J., is hosting an open house and inviting community residents to watch a mock colonoscopy and learn more about gastroesophageal diagnosis and treatment options, according to a Shore News Today report.
The live demonstration of capsule endoscopy will be supplemented with a lecture. A hospital staff member will swallow a pillcam, which is a miniature color video camera, to show viewers how the painless screening of a patient's esophagus and small intestine is performed.
