Accountable care organizations have been met with mixed reviews, but regardless of perception alternative patient care and payment models are gaining traction. Is gastroenterologist participation in ACOs on the rise?

2011 Participation

•    Planning to join an ACO: 9 percent
•    ACO: 2 percent
•    Cash-only: 1 percent
•    Concierge practice: 1 percent

2012 Participation

•    ACO: 17 percent
•    Planning to join an ACO: 9 percent
•    Cash-only: 4 percent
•    Concierge practice: 3 percent
