The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare has released three statistics on colonoscopy procedure times in ambulatory surgery centers. The data was collected from 100 facilities that annually perform an estimated combined 353,300 colonoscopies.
The statistics report:
• Average procedure time ranged from nine to 29 minutes
• Average pre-procedure time, covering the time from patient check-in to scope insertion, ranged from 17 to 129 minutes
• Average discharge time ranged from 15 to 75 minutes
