Lexington-based University of Kentucky has launched a sports cardiology program that focuses on the cardiovascular health of athletes.
The program is housed within UK HealthCare’s Gill Heart and Vascular Institute in Lexington, according to a Jan. 29 report from the university. It examines the challenges faced by individuals engaged in various levels of physical activity, ranging from elite athletes to all individuals seeking an active lifestyle.
The program is led by cardiovascular specialist Marc Paranzino, DO.
