Cardiologists earn $271,236 per year in Florida, the lowest-paying state for the profession, according to career website ZipRecruiter.

Florida pays $89,607 below the national average of $360,843.

ZipRecruiter collects its compensation data, which was updated Sept. 11, from employer job postings and third-party data sources. 

Here are the 10 states where cardiologists are paid the least, starting with the lowest-paying state:

1. Florida: $271,236

2. Alabama: $271,516

3. West Virginia: $272,468

4. Louisiana: $276,209

5. Kansas: $287,252

6. Mississippi: $298,747

7. Tennessee: $300,975

8. Utah: $301,795

9. Arkansas: $305,649

10. North Carolina: $306,377
