Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health has paused its cardiac surgical program, effective immediately, following an internal review and an assessment by healthcare operations consultancy firm HealthLinx.
Adena will continue to work with providers and staff in the department to improve efficiency and effectiveness, according to a Sept. 28 notice posted to the system's website.
During the pause, patients who are scheduled to receive surgical care at Adena will be contacted by its partners at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
The pause will only impact cardiac surgeries. Adena cardiology and thoracic and vascular surgery are not affected by this decision, according to the notice.
