Employment of registered nurses is expected to grow by 22 percent through 2018, with much of the demand concentrated in physician offices, according to a Healthcare Finance News report.
"Growth will be driven by technological advances in patient care, which permit a greater number of health problems to be treated, and by an increasing emphasis on preventive care," the report says.
At present, the onset of ICD-10 coding has made certain positions — nursing leadership, surgical positions and occupational and physical therapists — increasingly difficult to fill, according to Clarence Hester, corporate director of compensation for Orlando Health's.
"These positions tend to be more difficult to fill because the requirements, such as education and licensing, are more rigorous and the supply is more limited in the local market," Mr. Hester said.
