Internal Communications Tool Improves Clinician, Staff Contact

A new staff communications tool at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock has made communications between clinicians and staff easier and more efficient, according to an InformationWeek Report.

The hospital recently implemented the Vortex Connect workforce communication tool, which allows staff members to set personal preferences — including emails, text messages and voicemails — for receiving information about scheduling and emergencies. Administrators sending the messages can also target individuals or specific groups.

The system replaces emails and phone calls that managers would send manually to staff members who might not be checking email or voicemail on off-hours. Vortex can also be integrated with a variety of third-party applications, including workforce management software from Kronos and clinical software vendors like Cerner, said Neil Grunberg, VP of business development at Vortex.
