3 Tips on Implementing Pay-for-Performance Compensation Plans

A Fierce Healthcare report highlights three tips for implementing pay-for-performance compensation plans in medical practices.

  • Make measures relevant. Accomplishments related to the major initiatives of the organization should be highlighted in the compensation program.
  • Make measures realistic. The established employee goals should be attainable but not easily reached so that employees stay motivated over longer periods of time.
  • Get support from the staff members. All administrative staff members and physicians should be cooperative with the quality measures and goals established. They should view the pay-for-performance strategy as a "team sport" model.
