Most medical students, physicians and nurses or advanced practice registered nurses are in favor of free tuition for medical students, according to a Medscape poll.
Out of 704 respondents, 511 were physicians, 141 were nurses/APRNS and 52 were medical students.
The key details to know:
1. Seventy-two percent of physicians and nurses/APRNS said they supported free medical school tuition.
2. Ninety percent of medical school students said they were in favor of free tuition.
3. Asked whether free tuition would have changed their specialty choice, 21 percent of physicians said 'yes,' 62 percent said 'no' and 17 percent were unsure.
4. Some physicians posted comments expressing they were against free tuition for medical students, saying nurses and other healthcare professionals were just as deserving.
