The majority of U.S. physicians are voting for Hillary Clinton and Sen. Marco Rubio, according to an Atlanta-based Jackson Healthcare survey.
The survey polled 2,348 physicians from Feb. 24 to Feb. 26.
Here are five key points:
1. The majority of self-identified Democrats are voting for Hillary Clinton (67 percent), followed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (23 percent), Donald Trump (3 percent) and Sen. Marco Rubio (1 percent).
2. Of the self-identified Republicans, 33 percent are voting for Sen. Marco Rubio, followed by Donald Trump (28 percent), Gov. John Kasich (13 percent) and junior Sen. Ted Cruz (12 percent).
3. Only 7 percent of self-identified Republicans are voting for Ben Carson, MD, followed by Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton (3 percent) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (1 percent).
4. Most self-identified Independents are voting for Hillary Clinton (23 percent) and Sen. Marco Rubio (20 percent). Of this group, 17 percent are voting for Donald Trump, 14 percent for Sen. Bernie Sanders, 13 percent for junior Sen. Ted Cruz and 3 percent for Dr. Ben Carson.
5. Of all the respondents, 55 percent support the five GOP candidates compared to 40 percent supporting the two Democratic candidates.
