UnitedHealth to purchase DaVita Medical Group for $4.9B & more — 6 ASC company key notes

Here are six updates on ASC management companies.

UnitedHealth agreed to purchase DaVita Medical Group for $4.9 billion. The medical group, a division of DaVita, operates around 300 clinics and six outpatient surgical centers across six states. UnitedHealth has focused on growing its outpatient surgery business this year, with Optum acquiring Surgical Care Affiliates earlier this year.

Houston-based Nobilis Health opened a new ASC in El Paso, Texas.

Despite Credit Suisse Group issuing an "outperform" rating on Envision Healthcare, stock market analysts are bullish about the stock with six agencies issuing "buy" ratings and one agency issuing a "strong buy rating."

Tenet Healthcare reported net losses from continuing operations attributable to Tenet shareholders of $366 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2017. Despite that net operating revenues were $468 million, up 4.5 percent year-over-year.

HCA Healthcare saw its stock increase 1 percent to $84.84 from Dec. 4 to Dec. 8.

The American College of Gastroenterology named Greenbrae, Calif.-based Endoscopy Center of Marin gastroenterologist and AmSurg partner Ripple Sharma, MD, a fellow.
