Technavio identified three emerging trends in the global connected health market between 2016 and 2020.
Here are the three trends:
1. Introduction of virtual nurses. Boston-based Northeastern University created a virtual nurse concept, which involves a group of relational agents that act as front-line hospital staff members. These nurses help patients navigate their healthcare processes via a touch of a computer button.
2. Demand for wearable devices. The decreasing average selling price of wearables has increased their popularity. Using wearables to monitor patient health will further boost these devices' traction in the industry.
3. Increasing popularity of telemedicine. More patients are self-diagnosing with the assistance of telemedicine services.
