Here are 14 findings:

1. Of those practices surveyed, 32.8 percent have a physician assistant on staff.

2. A physician assistant with zero years to two years of experience made an average salary of $80,008, based on the practices surveyed.

3. That salary figure increased to $94,068 with six years to 10 years of experience.

4. Surprisingly, that number fell to $92,091 for physician assistants with 11 years to 20 years of experience and dropped even further to $88,759 for physicians with 20 years or more of experience.

5. Of those surveyed, 5.1 percent have 20 or more advanced practitioners. Four percent of practices had between 11 advanced practitioners and 20 advanced practitioners, and 8.9 percent had between six advanced practitioners and 10 advanced practitioners.

6. Nearly 40 percent had between two advanced practitioners and five advanced practitioners compared to 42.5 percent having one advanced practitioner.

Other findings from the study include:

7. Of the respondents, 29.9 percent are participating in an accountable care organization.
