U.S. businesses are lagging in data maturity and hackers are increasingly targeting the healthcare industry, according to Healthcare IT News.
A Vanson Bourne Global Data Protection Index analyzed nearly 2,200 IT decision makers responses and found only 8 percent of U.S. businesses are ahead of the curve in data maturity.
Here are four insights:
1. Last year, respondents lost 2.3 terabytes of data.
2. That figure increased when respondents used multiple data protection vendors, with respondents with four or more vendors losing 5.47 terabytes of data last year.
3. The lost data translates to $555,000, on average, in losses and a downtime of 22 hours per incident.
4. To minimize their data breach risk, organizations should create a data vault equipped with security measures in place.
