Mission Hospital, based in Asheville, N.C., was recognized by the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program.
Here are five highlights:
1. Mission Hospital was recognized for achieving meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care in 2014.
2. ACS NSQIP has recognized 52 of 517 hospitals participating in the adult program.
3. Participating hospitals are required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and then analyze their results.
4. Only one other hospital in North Carolina was among the 52 recognized.
5. The outcome performances related to patient management were in the following eight clinical areas:
- Mortality
- Cardiac
- Pneumonia
- Unplanned intubation
- Ventilator
- Renal Failure
- Surgical site infection
- Urinary tract infection
