Monroe, Mich.-based Mercy Memorial Hospital System has closed its outpatient surgery center, according to a report from the Monroe News.
The ASC's operations will shift Mar. 14 to the hospital's main campus in Monroe. The hospital says the shift is temporary, and the center will open again, but "its function has yet to be determined," according to the report.
The center sees about 1,000 cases each year. "We can perform those surgical procedures here more effectively," said Jackie Swearingen, the hospital's public relations director, to the News.
No further details as to the fate of the surgery center have been released at this time.
