Healthcare costs are inching up, which is the topic of discussion in several communities around the country, including Kenai, Alaska, where Medicenter and Surgery Center of Kenai Administrator Scott Carlson lent his expertise for upcoming changes, according to a Peninsula Clarion report.
During a meeting of the general assembly, Mr. Carlson and four other independent medical providers testified for "fair representation" on a healthcare cost-reduction task force.
Task force members haven't been picked yet, and Borough Mayor Mike Navarre said the task force should include "all sides of the local medical industry," in response to Mr. Carlson's concern that the private and public sector representation may not be balanced.
Previous attempts to address healthcare cost concerns were derailed due to "negative rhetoric."
